If this is your first visit and you are unsure which service to choose, contact us before booking. A short message about your concern is enough to start: where you feel discomfort, how long it has been there and what you would like help with. What acupuncture may help with

Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles into the skin. NCCIH reports that it may help with several pain conditions, including back or neck pain; the evidence and likely benefit depend on the condition. UK NICE NG59 recommends against acupuncture for low-back pain with or without sciatica in people aged 16 and over. Discuss your own concern and alternatives before deciding. The practical question is whether the proposed approach fits your needs. Ask what change to look for, how you will assess it and when to reconsider. Agreeing on a particular daily task can make that conversation more useful than simply asking whether the treatment “works”.

Make the most of your visit

Prepare a brief history of the problem, a list of medicines and details of treatment you have already tried. Existing reports can help you explain what has been investigated. You can make a note on your phone rather than trying to remember everything during the appointment.

Tell the practitioner about your health conditions and any other care you are receiving. Blood-thinning medicines, increased bleeding risk and skin conditions or infections may affect suitability. NHS safety information.

Mention any concerns about needles, positioning or privacy. You can ask who will provide the appointment and about their training. If you need a detailed conversation in Russian, agree the language in advance; you can message the clinic in Russian.

Comfort, safety and follow-up

Before treatment, ask what the procedure involves and about sterile, single-use needles. Improper acupuncture can cause serious complications, including infection or organ injury. NCCIH safety information.
